Walk on the Wildside?
http://wherethewildthingsare.warnerbros.com
If you haven't seen this film already then it’s definitely worth a look, based on the best selling children’s book ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ (Maurice Sendak), it tells the story of a frustrated young boy; Max. Though perhaps a little long and not quite what I was expecting (though to be honest I’m not sure what I was anticipating) this film captures the essence of childhood, demonstrating not just the fun which can be found through imagination and adventure but also loneliness and despondency.
The ‘Wild Things’ themselves are remarkable, as a viewer I was able to empathise with each one forgetting they were a product of computer animation and actors wearing costumes. The entire picture is skilfully ‘shot', and the way light has been used in different frames is beautiful.
Don’t write this off as simply a children’s film.

Black and white photographs have qualities that are sometimes lost when colour is added, it is the changes in contrast, composition and the context in which the image has been taken that capture the viewers interest and imagination. I form a story for the characters asking questions; who are they and where are they going?

As I walked home today every tree I passed was more vacant of leaves than the last, hardly unexpected it being november, but still this year each new season seems to have crept up on me incredibly fast.
Although I love the Winter months and the festivities they bring I miss the hues and charm of the Autumn. I often wish I could pick up the fallen leaves and return them to the branch from which they fell.
